What gay men need now: Love – and sex! Our message!

BY MICHAEL SOZE

What do I believe in? Not in a God. I stopped when I also realized that the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus do not exist. Although I can certainly see why guys with beards can be sexy. But I don’t need a wrapped present, I’m satisfied if I can unwrap something else.

But I digress. So I don’t believe – and it didn’t even take a dramatic experience with me, I didn’t have to demonize a god after the death of a dear person. On the other hand, I also accepted that dear people who died are really gone.

They only exist in my thoughts – and I think they would feel quite good about it. Then as now, it was enough for me to look out into the world reasonably and with a clear mind, to discard my faith in a God.

So I’m completely without faith? No. In fact, I believe in two things at once. One is people. Indeed, this belief puts me to the test every day and sometimes I would like to summarize it like the wonderful Friedrich Liechtenstein (the „super cool guy“ from the Edeka commercial) and say: People just suck. Period. And they prove it to me often enough, every day, as soon as I read the news.

But every now and then there are these rays of hope in between. These are people who are simply friendly and helpful, completely unselfish. Those are the great moments and I know how naive this belief is, but I stand by it – people can be really great. By the way, also in Berlin. I’ve experienced everything.

The other is love. Nonsense, not rational, completely stupid, just hormones and bang, that’s it. I know. And it’s all true. But then Reinhard Mey is right again, singing: Love is everything. And can be between all people. When nice people, preferably two boys, are still really nice to each other – that is really great.

Two men slowly undressing, exploring their bodies with kisses and warm hands, curious, tense. When hair stands up, fingers slide into each other. The first kiss, lips on lips. When love, sex, passion melt into each other and the world becomes a better place for a little moment. Then, yes, then I think.
